Premier is presenting an informative seminar regarding document management issues and trends on Tuesday, May 20th at 11:30 AM at Colgate Palmolive headquarters in New York. We will offer insight on tools and tactics for aligning your document management system with today's technology and regulatory landscape.
Many law firms or corporate legal departments introduced document management systems when the technology, regulatory and security landscape was vastly different. High speed WANs were cost prohibitive and were much slower than today's high speed networks. Data security breaches were less common and electronic documents rarely were exchanged with clients or vendors. As a result, firms introduced distributed document management systems with rudimentary search capabilities and limited regulatory or security controls.
As technology has evolved and the electronic file has become more prevalent, content management systems have adapted to this changing landscape. High speed WANs have enabled firms to consolidate their data centers, resulting in reduced costs and more efficient system administration. Autonomy iManage introduced the matter-centric filing model which allows firms to file and manage all electronic records on an engagement or matter level. Email use has exploded and content management vendors have responded with tools that allow you to easily file emails to the content management system. Recent security regulations such as SOX, HIPAA and HITECH have put security concerns front and center.
